Yosemite National Park – Day Trip

by dpadmin

Once Yosemite National Park re-opened after being shut for few months due to Covid-19 we decided to do a day trip. They limiting the amount of vehicles per day and are only allowing entry on reservation basis so you do have to buy a ticket in advance. You can buy your ticket on recreation.gov.  Once you book your ticket it is valid for 7 days so we did a day trip on a Sunday to see Yosemite Valley and Glacier Point and then took another day trip to cover Southern Yosemite, Mariposa Grove.

As soon as we entered the park we saw bears, a mama and her cub.

The Tunnel View

Our first stop was The Tunnel View, which is right outside the Wawona Tunnel.  From here you can see Bridalveil Fall, Half Dome and El Capitan.

Sentinel Boardwalk

We then headed down to the valley and stopped at another popular spot, Sentinel Boardwalk, from here you can see views of Upper Yosemite Falls.

Merced River

My daughter wanted to play around in the water so we dipped our feet in the Merced River.

Lower Yosemite Falls

Next we headed to see Lower Yosemite Falls, here you can walk (.4 mile long) to the bottom of the falls. It is a paved path along Yosemite Creek, however when we went the creek was dry.

Fun Fact: Yosemite Falls is North America’s tallest waterfall.

Glacier Point

We ended our day at Glacier Point, which is a viewpoint above Yosemite Valley with an amazing panoramic view of the Half Dome, Yosemite Falls and Yosemite’s high country. It was a 45 minute drive from Yosemite Valley.
